We’re coming down our final few rehearsals before our UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest!
Because we’re combining members of Symphonic and Concert bands for contest, we will have a few after school practices to make sure all groups are on the same page. The rehearsals will be from 3:15pm to 4:30pm on the following days:
The purpose of these rehearsals are to hear what our finished product will sound like. All eligible band members MUST attend.
We also have a pre-UIL performance on 3/22 (Tuesday) at the Sherman High School Auditorium. We’ll meet at 6:30 for warm ups in the band hall. At 6:55, we’ll move to the stage for concert and sightreading. We’ll start our performance at 7:00pm.
The purpose of this performance is to get valuable feedback from professional musicians and judges before we go for our official assessment. After we play, the band will meet for 15 minutes with one of the judges to get feedback. After this is over, the students are free to go. The whole evening should be done by about 7:20.
Our UIL competition is on Wednesday, April 6 at McKinney Boyd High School. We perform at 2:45pm; a complete schedule of that day for all students will be released as soon as we have more information regarding transportation and other issues.
