Trip to Region Marching Contest
We’re excited to provide a great opportunity for Piner Wildcat Band members to watch and participate in part of the high school marching band experience. On Saturday, October 17, members of the Piner Band may travel to Clark Stadium in Plano, TX to cheer on the Sherman High School Marching Band during one of their biggest marching contests of the season.
This trip is entirely optional, but recommended for all future members of the Sherman Bearcat Band!
The cost for the trip will be $5, which will include the cost of the ticket into the contest, travel to Plano, and lunch with the high school band before they leave. Students should bring extra money if they’d like to purchase food or drinks at the stadium. Dress for the trip will be jeans/shorts and a Piner Band shirt.
The schedule for the day will be as follows:
12:30pm – Meet at Sherman High School Band Hall to watch rehearsal and eat.
2:00pm – Load the busses to go to Clark Stadium in Plano, TX.
3:15pm – Arrive at stadium and go into stands as a group.
4:30pm – Watch the Sherman High School Band!
5:30pm – Listen for the contest results.
5:45pm – Load busses and return to Sherman.
6:45pm – Arrive back at Sherman High School.
The cost is $5 – we have limited spots left, so if your student has not turned in money yet, please do so as soon as possible!
On Monday, October 19, the Piner Band will be having our Fall Costume Concert! This program, which will include members of Varsity, Concert, Symphonic, and Honors Bands, will be our chance to showcase the hard work we’ve been doing the past few weeks.
The concert itself will start at 6pm and will last for a little less than an hour. The concert itself will take place outside, behind Piner Middle School near the band hall. We encourage parents to bring blankets and chairs, and enjoy the fall weather with us while we play.
If the weather turns bad, we’ll have the concert inside the Piner Gym.
The students’ dress for the concert is a school appropriate costume; students also have the option to not wear a costume as well.
Step Up Drive
Before and after our Fall Concert, starting at around 5:15, Music and Arts (our instrument rental company) will be available to try out new, “step up” versions of instruments.
This is a great opportunity for Piner Band members to start looking at upgrading their instruments to something that they will be able to use for both middle school and high school. A higher quality instrument makes a big difference in the sound quality for young musicians.
Music and Arts will have instruments to try out, as well as customer service representatives to sign contracts. These instruments are available for rent just as their beginner instruments were.
