December is here, and that means our Winter Concert is just around the corner. Please encourage your young musicians to keep practicing and working hard all the way until the last day of classes!
Our Winter Concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 11 – the concert is scheduled to begin at 7pm at the Sherman High School Auditorium. The Dillingham Beginner Band will perform first, followed by a combined Concert/Varsity/Piner Beginner Band, Symphonic Band, and Honors Band. Exact times and warm up locations will be given out this week.
There are some athletic conflicts on that evening – please let Mr. Anderson know as soon as possible if they involve you. We will work with the coaches to make sure everything is covered.
Dress will be concert black – a description of this can be found in the Piner Band handbook. The relevant excerpt:
Black dress shirt (purchased through the school), black slacks, black belt, black socks, long black socks, black dress shoes.
Note: Girls may wear the above or may wear a solid black dress, knee length or longer with
full shoulder coverage, and black dress shoes.
For 7th graders and band members who did not buy one last year, we will be taking orders for black dress shirts this week. The shirts will cost $15 (cash or check payable to “Piner Band”).
Honors Band Rehearsals
Honors Band will rehearse on Wednesday from 3:15-4:15. Attendance, as always, is mandatory for members of Honors Band. If there are any conflicts, please let Mr. Anderson know as soon as possible.
Concert/Varsity/Beginner Band Rehearsal
The combined Piner Concert, Varsity, and Beginner Bands will have one after school rehearsal on Monday, December 8th, from 3:15-4:15. Members are required to be there, as this is the only chance we’ll have to rehearse together. Any conflicts should be brought to Mr. Anderson’s attention as soon as possible so arrangements can be made.
