Our first week has been a success, and we’re excited to keep moving forward. Now that a lot of the paperwork is out of the way, we can move on to doing what we really enjoy – making music!
Members of Honors and Symphonic Bands should have band binders; Concert and Varsity bands will get them as the supplies come in. We had a supply check on Friday, and the vast majority of students were prepared with their highlighters and pencils. Thanks for making that happen!
Honors Band Sectionals
Members of Honors Band will start sectionals this week. Sectionals are mandatory for all members of Honors Band. Mr. Anderson can accommodate conflicts, but he must know in advance.
The schedule is as follows:
- 7:15am – 8:00am – Saxes
- 3:15pm – 4:00pm – Bassoons, 7th Grade Horns
- 7:15am – 8:00am – Low Brass
- 7:15am – 8:00am – Flutes
- 7:15am – 8:00am – Clarinets
- 3:15pm – 4:00pm – Trumpets, Oboes
- 7:15am – 8:00am – 8th Grade Horns
Students should arrive a few minutes early and be ready to play at the start time.
Thanks to all parents and students that have turned in their information sheets. Starting next Monday, September 8th, we will send out a weekly e-mail on Monday morning about the week’s events and other reminders. If, for some reason, you don’t get the e-mail, please let the directors know via e-mail or phone so we can make sure you get added.
If your student rents an instrument from the school (oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, tenor sax, bari sax, baritone, or tuba), they must turn in a $75 rental fee via check, cash, or money order by the middle of September. This fee ensures that these instruments will not only be in perfect shape for your students, but also be available for students in the years to come. Please get these in as soon as possible!
This week, the directors will start to collect orders for music supplies. Supplies that are necessary for each instrument can be found in our handbook. We will let them know prices before we place the order, and we will post prices here. Parents are welcome to find the supplies from other sources, but each student must have their own.
This year, the Piner Band is excited to offer our usual Piner Band T-shirt in addition to a new Piner Band zipper hoodie. The band shirt is green with a white logo, and the hoodie is black with a green logo.
Each student must have a Piner Band shirt as part of our informal uniform (as listed in our handbook, available at PinerBand.org). The shirt is the same as last year, so if any 8th graders still have their shirt, and it still fits, they don’t need to purchase another. The hoodie is optional and being offered as a bonus for those students who wish to order one.
Parents and family members can also purchase shirts and hoodies if they’d like.
Sizes available are adult small through XXL.
We will send home an order form this week, and it must be returned by Monday, September 8.
