We’re getting close to contest! We’d like to thank all of our students for being on their best behavior last week during our band clinics in class. All of the band directors that came to listen gave great feedback and commented on how excellent the behavior and musicianship was of all of our students. Well done!
As a reminder, here’s our upcoming contest schedule:
Sym II goes to contest on Wednesday, April 9th.
Warm up – 3:30pm
Perform – 4:00pm
Sym I goes to contest on Friday, April 11th.
Warm up – 2:55pm
Perform – 3:30pm
Both bands will leave during the school day. Return times will be posted and sent home in an e-mail as soon as they’re finalized.
Our bands have a practice contest on Tuesday, April 1st at Sherman High School. The bands will meet as follows:
Meet on Stage at SHS – 6:30pm
Perform – 7:00pm
Meet at SHS Band Hall – 6:45pm
Perform – 7:30pm
Concert dress is our usual all black.
Both bands are down to just around 10 full rehearsals. We need every student there, ready to play and ready to work. Every minute we have together is vital, especially because of the unplanned missed days due to the various weather days and moved mock STAAR testing.
Parents – assist us by encouraging your students to practice at home. Any extra bit of work can help. You are a big part of our program, and we appreciate any help!
After contest, we have our Spring trip to Six Flags. Remember, students must have attended Solo and Ensemble contest or provided an approved excuse. Additionally, they must be eligible to go to our contests. That means that on the 3rd 9 Weeks report card, each class must have a grade of 70 or above.
By mid-week, we should have the costs for the trip pinned down, and we’ll let you know.
As always, if you have any questions, please let us know. We’re here to support your students in whatever they do, within music and beyond.
